Retaining Walls
Southern Illinois

Engineered walls that control erosion and add usable space. Built to hold back earth and stand the test of time.

Why You Need a Retaining Wall

Retaining walls do more than look good — they solve real problems. If your property has slopes, erosion, or unusable space, a properly engineered retaining wall can transform it.

We build walls that control erosion on steep grades, create flat, usable terraces on sloped lots, hold back earth for driveways and building pads, and add structure and definition to your landscape. Every wall we build includes proper drainage, compacted base, and engineering appropriate for Illinois soil and freeze-thaw conditions.

Types of Retaining Walls We Build

Segmental Block Walls

Interlocking concrete blocks in multiple colors and textures. The most popular choice — durable, attractive, and suitable for walls up to 4 feet without additional engineering.

Natural Stone Walls

Dry-stacked or mortared stone walls with timeless character. Each wall is unique. Great for terraced gardens, property entrances, and accent walls.

Gravity Walls

Massive walls that use their own weight to resist soil pressure. Ideal for shorter walls (2–4 feet) where simplicity and cost matter.

Cantilevered Walls

Reinforced concrete walls with an L-shaped footing. The go-to for taller walls (4+ feet) where engineering is required.

Timber Walls

Treated landscape timbers for a rustic, natural look. Cost-effective for shorter walls and garden terraces up to 3 feet.

Boulder Walls

Large natural boulders placed for a rugged, natural appearance. Excellent for drainage swales and rural properties.

Built Right — What Goes Into Every Wall

Proper Base

We excavate and compact a crushed stone base below frost depth so the wall doesn't shift during Illinois winters.

Drainage System

Every wall includes a gravel drainage column, perforated pipe, and filter fabric to prevent hydrostatic pressure buildup behind the wall.

Geogrid Reinforcement

For taller walls, we embed geogrid layers into the backfill to tie the wall into the soil mass behind it for long-term stability.

Quality Materials

We use manufacturer-certified blocks, stone, and drainage components — never cut corners on materials that are buried underground.
